Birmingham MP celebrates the launch of new lifeline to small businesses

Preet Gill, MP for Birmingham Edgbaston, has celebrated the successful launch of a new service designed to help small and micro businesses.

Salhan Connect has been created by the award-winning firm, Salhan Accountants, with the aim of providing specially tailored advice to the region’s small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

With more than 300 businesses already signed up for assistance, the experienced team behind the new service decided to invite Ms Gill to find out how local businesses were benefitting from its innovative and flexible approach.

At a special event held at the firm’s new offices on the third floor of the landmark 54 Hagley Road building in Edgbaston, Ms Gill and a number of other important figures, including Richard Smith a partner from Opus Land the owners of 54 Hagley Road, learned more about Salhan Connect and its unique offering to SMEs.

Having been shown how Salhan Connect helps small firms, Ms Gill said: “I am always happy to see a local business grow and flourish in the local area. It is interesting to see how Salhan Accountants is helping other businesses, especially smaller companies, which play such an important role in Birmingham’s and Britain’s economy.

“The opportunity that Salhan Connect gives to small businesses is fantastic and it is wonderful to see that the firm’s expansion offers new opportunities of employment to local people.”

During her presentation to the assembled guests, Ms Gill also discussed the importance of businesses in her Edgbaston constituency and the exciting extension of the Metro Line to help businesses attract new talent and clients.

Designed and developed in-house by Salhan Accountants using its own extensive experience of working with small business, Salhan Connect focuses on providing useful advice and insights to companies in the most efficient manner through the use of the latest online accountancy software and 24-hour support.

Dr Anjulika Salhan, Director of Salhan Accountants, said: “More than 99 per cent of businesses in the UK are either small or medium-sized. Of these, around 5.5 million can be considered micro businesses and yet despite their numbers they only account for around 33 per cent of employment and 22 per cent of turnover in the UK.

“Something is fundamentally wrong with this and we have long suspected that it is a lack of professional advice and support that has led to them being less productive and slower to grow. We want to keep more businesses in business, which is where our new service can help.

“Salhan Connect aims to help these businesses make more of their unique skills and expertise by providing them with the support they need at a truly affordable cost. Using the latest software, employing the latest in automation and AI, we believe we can offer a completely unrivalled service, which is backed up by the knowledge of our experienced team.”

Offering a number of different cost-effective packages tailored to a range of businesses, the service departs from more costly traditional accountancy services and aims to make professional advice accessible to everyone.
